DBWI: What if there is a democratic India?

To be realistic, these are the scenarios we should really be talking about.

OOC: The purposes for me to set up this thread is both to inquire about the possibilities of an Indian dictatorship and a democratic China.

China was supposed to be always a democracy after the fall of KMT (I screwed up China to make a commie-less anti-KMT revolution possible), and India an efficient Meiji-like dictatorship.

But you people have screwed both countries really hard... It's still interesting, so let's carry on.

Nethaji Subhas Chandra Bose after setting up his Azad Hind regime in India with the help of the Japanese forces, started implementing his long cherished dream projects. He had visions of a new India similar to that of Kemal Ataturk in Turkey. He wanted a single language to be used throughout India. He chose Hindustani as the base and many Dravidian words were added to make it acceptable in South as well. A new alphabet was created simplifying Devanagari. The new language was tought in schools from the very first day a student was admitted and all the regional languages were ignored. English was tought as second languge. As the vast majority of the population was illiterate and as the new language, called Bharati, alone was tought the regional languages failed to develop. Since all media like radio, television, films etc. used Bharati alone it soon dominated the country and replaced the local languages.
Nethaji was also insistant on secularism. Though he was a devout Hindu he did not allow any discrimination on the ground of religion. Minorities were not allowed any special privileges either. As he wanted to develop a common culture, he introduced reforms to bring about uniformity in Hindu Religion. Selected festivals were made popular throughout India. He knew that all attempts by the social reformers to get rid of the caste system had failed and abolishing it by law would be futile. Hence he made a new law permitting one to convert from one caste to another at his will. This law weakened the caste system as one could move from a lower caste to an upper caste at his pleasure!
Subhas Chandra Bose remained the sole leader of his one party government till his demise in 1983 at the age of 86. During his dictatorial rule of over three and a half decades he completely trasformed India from a backward, poverty ridden colony to a prosperous great power. He is rememberred as the Father of Nation and the Architect of New India.
Had India been a democratic country a similar development would not have ever occured. If a man like Jawaharlal Nehru with his disdain for Hinduism and soft corner for foreign ideologies had became the leader, the development of India would have been retarded. The present linguistic and cultural unity also would not have come about. The selfish and crrupt political leaders would have fought each other for crumbs of loot of power.
