DBWI: What if the Pats win the 2001 AFC Divisional Playoff Game?

In the 2001 AFC Divisional Round, Charles Woodson sealed a win for the Raiders when he grabbed the ball out of Brady's hands and raced 80 yards for a TD. The Raiders rode the momentum of that play past Pittsburgh and into SB 36 against the Greatest Show on Turf Rams.

In a high-scoring classic, the Rams pulled it out with 35 seconds left on a Warner to Bruce TD pass. At the end of the season, Jon Gruden was given a three-year extension by Al Davis, leaving the Bucs to go in a different direction for HC (they would make a run at NE's Charlie Weis, and hire him).

The Raiders and Rams would play in the SB the next year, but the Raiders would get revenge. After that, though, the Raiders and Rams went through a decline as age and poor drafting caught up to both teams.

As for the Pats, they never were able to make a SB run with Belichick and Brady. They lost several close games in 03 and missed the playoffs (as a result, Corey Dillon went to Denver in 2004, and helped them win a SB, giving Shanahan a contract extension, and making it easy for Plummer to hang it up after the 2005 season).

However, what if they are able to pull out that snow bowl against the Silver and Black? Would they have had any chance to win in Pittsburgh? And, even if they did, they probably didn't stand a chance against the GSOT, did they?

I would be against this, if not just because the Charlie Weiss LOLBucs (10-6, 6-10, 2-14) was one of the more entertaining periods of franchise collapse ever.

And then, Jon Gruden replaced him (there were rumors that he would have been Tampa's coach in 02 if they don't get to the SB), but he left after a few years because he got bored with it, and went to the MNF booth and stayed there.

I heard they were considering now-Senator Steve Young, before he decided to run for Senate in Utah, that is.

OOC: Why so much anti pats post the few days,...

IC: I think the Pats would do the miraccle run to SB...just to be steamrolled by the GSOT Rams...again with a superbowl appareance that might galvanize the pats to finally past of first round of playoffs...maybe...again is ot like pats have real competition in AFC East(Dolphins sucks and was a miraccle Drew Brees not wasted his career there, Jets are walking mediocrity and Bills are wasting andrew luck career after that AFCCG appearance)

I know "any given Sunday..." but there's no way that 2001 Rams was losing unless they got turnoverities or the drops or something.

the only wait is to both Warner and Faulk got down..maybe if the Tampa game is more brutal but even there is far difficult and nobody would belive pats win that way.
