DBWI: What if the Germans had won in the East, but lost in the West?

So what might have happened if the end result of WW1 was reversed from OTL? The Czar is somehow beaten, while France doesn't sue for peace after a year and a half and along with Britain somehow breaks Germany?

Near ASB how could France stop Germany after it gets all those reinforcements from Russia? ;)

Perhaps if it had a better start to the war? Rather than the Germans make the gains in the first weeks/months that they did OTL, they don't focus enough on following the plan?

The only way I see this happening is if they were so stupid they get the US against them. It would have to be something pretty major considering how isolationist the US is. If the war isn't in the Americas it isn't intrested.

I'm confused. Isn't this exactly what happened? In March 1918 the Russian revolutionary government surrendered, and the Brest-Litovsk peace treaty gave the Central Powers huge territories. Germany then used the reinforcements from the eastern front for its giant offensive of 1918 which failed to achieve victory.

This is a double blind scenario. Which means we are pretending we are from a time line in which Germany wins in the west and loses in the east and speculating what they may think of a scenario which is true to OTL.

Aha. Thanks for the info!
OOC: It's generally considered polite to not just do a spam post OOC post in a DBWI thread if you aren't adding anything to the thread. For example, you could have said...

IC: What do you all think WW2 would have been like, if/when Hitler came to power? A defeated Russia in WW1 wouldn't have been as strong a "Russian hoards" card as it did looming over Germany IOTL, but then again could Germany have rolled over a stronger France as it did OTL? The French had that impressive Maginot Line plan, but never had the money to build it after all...

Dont exaggerate. Every post is a good post. You should be happy about his statement cuz it bounced your thread right back to the top of the list.

Another spam? Please, this is a legitimate what if thread, not a place for rants. If you want to spam some threads, why not go to alternia?

New thought on topic: Clearly a Russia that lost in WW1 wouldn't have had the industry it did in WW2. How does that affect hitler?

Who??

You don't mean Adolf Hitler do you? I know him, original architect, if a little grandiose. He does go on about his wartime experiences, but he never saw combat and everyone knows it. It was over too soon in the West for him. (good thing too, he might've easily been gassed)

But what would he have to do with politics? He did get into that big argument with Senator Frank Lloyd Wright but those were artistic differences.

I have seen his work. I admit he does seem to go for big grandiose buildings. I wouldn't hire him to design anything pedestrain but he did an OK job designing the Berlin Opera House.

Don't you mean Schikelgruber?:D

Never heard of Hitler before.....

OOC:I'm pretty sure I spelt Schickelgruber wrong, but what the hell...

Well I know one thing, and that is that Kaiser Wilhelm II would have been offered the Finnish crown in 1918. I know it doesn't seem like much but it would have made a great base for future offensives against Russia, the Baltic States, and Scandinavia.

OOC: I am pretty sure his name was Hitler before he took up politics.
OOC: His name was Hitler before he was born, actually.
His father's name was Schickelgruber until just a bit before Adolf's birth, and it wasn't that clear that he would be allowed to gain that name, so in many ATLs, especially ones where the family moves out of the country, it wouldn't occur. And that would make Adolf Hitler into Adolf Schickelgruber, but it would still require a pre-1900 POD.

Does the Russo-Japanese WAr of 1937 still happen in a TL where Russia faced a humiliating loss during the Great War?

Well, here's a thought: Would Pablo Picasso and the French Communists have risen to power had France won WWI?

One major concern I have is whether the 1928 Schikelgruber-Roosevelt Alliance which provided the basis for the German-American entente would have taken place? From what I know of the time period, it was political and economic pact that provided stability for both countries during the turbulent 1930s and 1940s. Just look to the formation of the European Economic Community (EEC) in 1945 to see the power of the alliance....
