Bit of a double-edged sword. The Shah had done a pretty thorough job of modernizing Iran, so it's likely that the population would have embraced the liberal values being promoted by the left-wing of the Revolution. Which means further secularization, more education for women etc.
On the other hand, if the Revolution pursues Soviet-style policies, that could set the economy back a bit. And, the human rights situation might get pretty bad, if the leftist regime decides to start rounding up and/or shooting followers of the Ayatollah.
