DBWI: What if Malthus had been wrong?

OOC: actually, he was right. so is this actually a Triple Bind What If ?

OOC: Are you sure about that? I was under the impression we were saved by new technological advancements that increased food production. I don't rememeber a really big crash population crash...

But, sure, TBWI it is, then!

If those attempts to create new fertilisers and pest controls out of the then new petro chemicals actually worked instead of just poisoning the land and making it baren. Then maybe food production could out pace population growth for a few decades. But as population growth grows exponentially even quadrupaling the food suply will only ofsett starvation by a couple of decades. Although for a while that may be confined to just the third world where no one would notice much. But with the worlds population growing to past 2 billion to perhaps as much as 4 or 6 billion would lead to much greater consumption and depletion of the worlds fossil fuels. So that by the begining of the 21st century they will likely be runing low on resources for the production of said petrochemicals.

So although they would have less famines in the 20th century they would just be saving up for a super famine in the 21st. This world would be full of huge mega cities which would be crowded and disgusting places to live in. Cities the size of London would be nothing unusual.

Heavy-metal weaponry and man's innate tendency to sin against his fellow man and the earth are the causes of the world's current population of 1.5 billion, not Earth's inability to hold enough souls. The Holy Father's recent pronouncements to this effect are backed by scientific evidence.

OOC: actually, he was right. so is this actually a Triple Bind What If ?

ooc: Actually he was wrong. He expectet that earth couldn´t feed more than 1/2 billion people. Now we got 6 billions and take a look in your refrigerator.

I doubt you would see World War 1 and 2 as having colonies would not be so important as a destination to ship europes exess population to. The colonies would just be an extra source of income instead. You might even have some native populations surviving till the present day.

Without the eugenics laws this highly populated world will be full of criminals, idiots, and other degenerates.
