DBWI. What if Julius Caesar chose Octavion as his successor instead of Marc Antony.

Many people don't know this, but Julius Caesar had another choice for his heir. A power hungry guy named Octavian. How would this change the future of the Roman Republic. Would it stay together as a republic, what would happen?

Marc Anthony tried to start a Eastern-style absolutist Monarchy and so was quickly defeated and killed by Cicero's, "the Father of the Republic", forces.
Octavian seems a pretty young an inexperienced guy, maybe he could become a sort of figurehead of the oligarchic families of Senate. But Marc Anthony probably would try to revolt. OTL he allied himself with Cleopatra, Queen of Egypt, who wanted marry the new "King of Rome", and she was defeated with him, causing Egypt's annexation. I can see Cicero sending Octavian, the "Caesar's Heir, to Egypt to marry Cleopatra and forging an alliance with her to avoid troubles during Anthony's rebellion. This Roman-Egyptian Dynasty could stay until now.

Well we can't forget Caesarion, now can we. I think he seems a likelier candidate to be heir, as in OTL he was a crafty statesman and general, with every bit of his father's acumen. That helped him usurp the throne of Kush and started the Caesarion-Ptolemy dynasty which ruled a large empire, consisting of Nubia, the land of the Fur and the Aethiopians and rule even in the modern-day, though reduced by now to generally just Nubia and the land of the Fur. Additionally, over the centuries they converted to Zoroastrianism from Hellenism then Islam which reduces their legitimacy in some people's eyes. I still see them as the heir of Caesar, as Caesarion was the Roman typified.
