There was a bizarre moment during the Munich uprising when Ludendorff came close to releasing the Bavarian triumvirate of Kahr, Seisser, and Lossow. If Hitler had returned to the Beer Hall just five minutes later, he would have lost his most valuable hostages. Without this advantage, he could not have secured the support of the Munich Reichswehr garrison, and the Nazi revolution would have fizzled in Munich.
If Hitler had not marched on Berlin in 1923, would the Republic have survived? Would war with France have been prevented? Or would some other fascist leader have marched on Berlin in Hitler's place and accomplished the same thing?
