DBWI: What if Elizabeth I had not died of smallpox in 1562?

As we all know, Elizabeth I of England died of smallpox in October 1562, barely four years after acceding to the English throne. In the aftermath of her death, England was torn apart by civil war, the same as had happened a century earlier, with the War of the Roses. And we know what happened after that...So what course would England have taken had she lived? Would it have remained an independent power? And would it have become a major force in the New World?

DBWIs aren't WIs.

DBWis have the concept that all posters are posting from the ah where the change did happen and speculating on what a universe where it didn't (i.e ours) would be like.

I think it's fine to have two threads. One where people talk about it as ourselves and when where people roleplay as people from an ah and talk about it in character.

Well one thing is for certain Mary Queen of Scots would not have been assassinated in 1608 at the Ball of an Edinburgh notable. Because the main cause for her assassination was when it looked like she would loose she traded the English throne for favorable border adjustments torwads Scotland. A lot of Northern Englishman did not like that.
