DBWI: What If Disney Survived The 2000s?

OTL, Disney had a terrible nineties and even worse 2000s, with their failures to buy Pixar and constant commercial failures, the house of mouse finally went under in 2010. The parks were sold off to various other companies back in 2008, but the influx of cash just wasn't able to turn back into profits, or in the case of Disney world itself, saw most of it given to the state of Florida. But what if they were able to put out some better flicks and managed to bounce back as a company?

Well, without the hegemony of TimeWarner you might have actually decent family entertainment on television instead of every channel being Skinemax-lite. An interesting POD would be The Black Cauldron, an expensive flop that convinced Disney executives to cut their losses and stop producing animated movies.

Well it's pretty obvious actually just stop Harvey Weinstein from taking over The Walt Disney Company, have him get exposed around 1993 this would prevent him from murdering Frank Wells in 94 and prevent the "accidental" death of Michael Eisner in 95. I mean looking back Disney seemed to have a renaissance of sorts going from the late 80s to early 90s, after Harvey took over everything went to shit. Pretty simple POD really, not the cleanest but it's probably the only way.

OCC: Well this is awkward we just posted at the same time, um @KingOnTheEdge which of our ideas do you want to use?

Though relating to the POD I proposed what exactly could realistically lead to Harvey getting exposed early or at least early enough to prevent Frank Wells death?

At least one of his many secretaries comes forward with proof of sexual assault, misognystic behavior, or just a detailed plan of how he set up Eisner's accident.

Disney was just valuable in pieces then as a whole company.
Once the money people figured that out it was “So Long Mouse” and Hello Seven Figures Bonuses.
Orion bought the distribution company and the physical studios that allowed them to keep their costs down and keep more of the box office money to themselves.
It also allowed them to expand their television production.
A special Anti-Trust exemption allowed for a consortium of theme park companies to keep the Magic Kingdom opened while building their own parks in the former Walt Disney World.
The former WDW land had every possible space that could be built upon turned in to Time Shares, Spring Training complexes and of course golf courses there are so many golf courses that if you hook or slice your shot you are most likely going to have your ball land on another course.
There are so many other things that like that the holding company did like licensing Disney characters to slot machines that upset a lot of people but it did bring in a lot of money.

We probably wouldn't have had every film company trying to copy the Marvel Cinematic Universe- they were modestly successful under Disney, but only really started hitting it big in 2013 with Black Panther. Disney's bad decisions with the licenses for Marvel's characters and corporate meddling with the movies and shows meant that Marvel couldn't have done what they did until they escaped Disney's thumb. (To put it in perspective, Black Panther cost $150 million to make, but grossed $750 million; 2009's Iron Man, a movie with a similar plot and made in a similar manner, made $500 million against a total cost of $280 million)

Then again, the poor management was what got Disney bankrupt in the first place, so- who knows, maybe Marvel would have been successful.
