DBWI What if Britain did not intervene in the American Civil War

What if the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland did not intervene in the American Civil War on the side of the Confederate South? How would North America be? Would slavery been abolished much earlier then it was? How would have the World Wars turned out?

Obviously Lorraine would still be French, and President Colin Powell would never have been eligible to the presidency since his native state of Jamaica would still be a british colony.
(OOC: as usual, you know, DBWI, weak, etc)

Well the US would be much smaller, There may even be an Independent Canada . Britain itself wouldn't have been invaded by the US Army and ended up as an American Puppet State. (OOC: :p;))

Well, there would be no civil war in the United Kingdom that turned it into a republic, and caused its constituent parts to break from the union leading the way to American dominance. So we wouldn't see the British Royal Family flee to Prussia. IIRC, OTL Prussia/Germany saw itself as a standard bearer of Monarchy in a world besotted with republics. Would this change if the British Royals stayed in London?

Also the infamous German plans to re-instate the monarchy through invasion of Britain would never be hatched?

(OOC: Worst Brit-screw imaginable. just for the heck of it. :p )

Not Plausable

Not Plausable, the British Populace needed the Opium that was grown in the south too much, if they remained neutral, there could have been great riots breaking out amogst the populace who were hooked. It doesn't help to have a king who was hooked as well. If they somehow kept neutral through the entire Civil War, their Opium supply would have been removed (Northaners were against Slavery AND Opium) and the Opium Tax Revolt of 1903 might have gained more support or even happened sooner. :p

Hmm, I'm not sure slavery would have been abolished earlier. The South might not had risen up at all if Britain hadn't promised to back them. And the South was quite good at manipulating American politics. However after independence the British started to pressure the South to abolish slavery, and even threatened to start buying opium from the Brazilians instead.

On the other hand, I wonder if California would be known as the "Communist State" if not all those refugees would have gone there after the war.

Well, if Britain hadn't intervened and the United States had won that war, hopefully we wouldn't find the US dotted with those ghastly Cornwall Fried Chicken fast food monstrosities, repleat with their depictions of a inane, grinning Lord Sanders.
