[I think I've got a pretty good feel for DBWI's, but if this is misplaced, let me know: What I could/should have done differently, Where a thread like this belongs, Just exactly what DBWI stands for and, in short, what it means. Thank you in advance.]

Well, The Crisis of '08 has come to this and now is the moment of truth: The Ammendments have been ratified, the agreements made, the back room deals brokered, the districts drawn up, the new state Constitution ratified and all that's left is the new state of New England, the merger of the former states of Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusettes, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine to elect their governor and two U.S. Senators in the special election.

The sitting Senators of the former six states have all thrown their hats in the ring, but there's other challengers out there.

Polls close on Nov. 5!

The Senator Candidates:

Joe Lieberman (ID)

Chris Dodd (D)

Jack Reed (D)

Sheldon Whitehouse (D)

John Kerry (D)

Pat Leahy (D)

Bernie Sanders (I)

Judd Gregg (R)

Jean Shaheen (D)

Olympia Snowe (R)

Susan Collins (R)

Or are you mad as hell and just want to "Throw the bums out!"?

Early polling seems to show Sanders as an early victor, though there's plenty of time for his momentum to slow. Nobody else has made a strong showing yet.

Lieberman and Snowe. Two good, independent-minded New England moderates who happen to be two of the hardest working members of the Senate. I think they'll represent the state well.
