DBWI USFL fails

I wouldn’t say it “supplanted” the NFL although the NFL adopted a ton of rule changes with the merger.

The fact that it absorbed the best four teams from the WLAF helped it shore up its numbers and force a reimagined playoff in...what are they calling it now? Oh yes, the Tackle Football Federation. The old WLAF teams insisted on it being called “tackle football” since the term “tackle” caught on in a world that calls soccer “football.” Figures.

I hear Donald Trump almost got involved but decided not to. I can’t imagine he ruins more than his own franchise, though; the USFL was insanely popular and current UFC teams (United Football Conference) draw better ratings than the other three conferences.

If the USFL fails I can’t imagine what happens, honestly. John Elway going to New Jersey and making them a dynasty, Jim Kelly winning two in his career with the Gamblers, and Steve Young’s connection with Brett Fullwood becoming the “Touchdown Express” are all iconic 80s and 90s sports moments. Without them, the world of sports would be drastically different.

It'd be a hell of a change for the WWF after Vince took over the New York team sometime around 2000-ish, I wanna say. Renamed them the Titans and everything.

Yeah, the New York Titans... shame that he moved them instead of just selling, his ego really got in the way there.
