DBWI: US Presidential election, 1972

Voting intentions, 1972

  • Total voters
    28
  • Poll closed .
Like I said in the primaries, if it's not Scoop, I done with the Dems.

Right man at the right time and the Dems blew it...AGAIN!

(OOC; of course "Saint Bobby" will win this; put his name in any poll at this place and he wins. Hell, people click his name so automatically, you could put him in a poll for "Who do you want to see mauled by a pack of wild dogs?" and he'd win in a landslide...the thought process: "BOBBY!" *click* "BOBBY!")

OCC: I'm not so sure it's Saint Bobby who's the candidate, if Nixon is President for fifteen years (Not particularly likely in my opinion, but I'm running with the original idea.) Then it follows Jack doesn't get shot in Dallas. And so the Bobby who's the candidate of ttl is the sob from before the assassination. At least that's my rationale. I'm still undecided as to the election though.

OOC: Hmm...if he were "pre-assassination of Jack" Bobby, that would change everything. (Including my vote.)

(except for my hypothesis on "BOBBY FTW!" as a default setting in just about any poll he's placed in here.)

OCC: You'd vote for SOB-Bobby? I sure wouldn't.

OOC: That reminds me of NY ultralibs IOTL in 1964: "His record is not that of a liberal." More like that of a New Dem (according to BC). Always a cultural conservative and socially as well in many respects. Except for his Mackenzie King-like abortion statement in 1967. Paraphrase: "Liberalization if necessary, but not necessarily liberalization." At the same time being personally PL.

OCC: Wait, was that directed at me?

Unless he's referring to the cliched and somewhat inaccurate caricature of "Ruthless Bobby." There's a good cartoon from '67 that shows this. "Good Bobby" and "Bad Bobby. The bad one resembles one who kicks the baseman with cleats when the strike is called." (The actual incident involved a steel-padded catcher's glove meeting a lippy kid's mouth). ;) But that was in the late 40's.

Hey everybody! Lets play the drinking game! Whenever RogueBeaver posts a thread that has to do with Robert Kennedy, you have to sip your beer! I hope you guys are heavy drinkers.

Carpetbagger: Once my TLs are finished, there will be "Midnight in Manila" only. Anyways, many forget that I am a card-carrying Harper Conservative. If I truly was obsessed, wouldn't my sig be a quote from him, I would have become a liberal, etc? To prove this to you, I will not post a 1960's thread except TL updates for a month.

Carpetbagger, of course he's going to make Kennedy threads. He's the Kennedy specialist, what did you expect? James K. Polk? John Quincy Adams?
