We all know that the United States of America is a fairly small coastal nation on the eastern coast of North America, bordering the Dominion of Canada to its north, the Dominion of Ohio to the West, and the Republic of Florida to its south. It is a trading nation, its economy based on an extensive merchant navy. Its only major claim to world importance was that it fought its way to independence from Britain in the 1770s with the extensive aid of France. The independent government of the country demanded substantial territories from Britain after the War, but Britain denied them. These territories are what became the Dominion of Ohio.

The deep red is the current United States as of 2013 (as I'm certain you learned in Primary School). However, some crazy friend of mine wrote an alternate history in which the United States had this territory.

This is ridiculous. How could that small country of traders and farmers extend all the way to the Pacific? How could they possibly own what we know as New Archangel and the Sandwich Islands? Just bloody ridiculous, I say.

So, Alternatehistory.com, could the United States extend that far? I doubt it, but I'm no expert.
