OOC: Reagan in 1968? He's only been in office less than two years in CA.

IC: Well, I'm voting for Kennedy. I like Reagan and his programme, but we need experience in the WH.

Zac: Reagan was actually the second-oldest candidate IOTL (b. 1911) after Rocky and LBJ (b. 1908). ;) Saying Reagan would continue Rocky's good work is like saying Sarah Palin would continue Lincoln Chafee's good work.

I was a huge Humphrey supporter in the primaries, but I think Kennedy will make a good president. My only concern is that he doesn't seem as committed to the principles of the New Deal as Humphrey.

IC: He's recovered quite well, and that's why Proxmire is on the ticket. Kennedy is a conservative Democrat, the kind I can vote for.

Right side of his mouth still doesn't work, he's a bit hard to understand, but I won't be too disappointed if he ends up winning.

Ah well, that's why his brother Ted is near him at all times and he never holds live press conferences, rather takes written questions. Another big issue is his brother. Many Democrats are quite worried about Robert Cardinal Kennedy's recent denial of Communion of Rep. Pat Moynihan (D-NY) for supporting abortion rights. Apparently he has another surprise in store regarding bussing, which can cause mayhem in the South...

I wouldn't call Kennedy a conservative. If he was really a conservative then Wallace wouldn't be running from Kennedy's right. I'd call Kennedy more of a moderate Democrat. If you remember the primaries, Kennedy ran as the moderate, Humphrey as the liberal, and Wallace as the Conservative.

PP: Well, an economic and social centrist. Wallace is a regular Yellow Dog, populist on economics, far-right on social issues.

OOC: Back to the thread. SFG will get annoyed otherwise.

IC: I was going to vote for Reagan until I heard he said "can someone tell me what's in my legislative program" in the middle of a live press conference. That's not the man I want sitting across a table from Kosygin and Brezhnev.
