DBWI: Ungern doesn't escape to Tibet

What if Baron Ungern never escaped to Tibet. Without him, Tibet wouldn't have military to create Middle-Asian Buddhist Empire.

Sure, "Empire". Thanks to that total psychopath what once was the spiritual heart of Buddhism is now an isolated backward hellhole. My opinion? World would be a way better place without the bloody baron forever staining the Buddha's teachings with his "holy euthanasia" and "God of War" bullcrap.

I should remaind you that it wasn't Ungern who prockaimed himself God of War. It was Tibetian Dalai Lama who also deckared war on Indian Unuon 1939, Unger was just fallowing his orders.

I'm surprised India didn't conquer them afterwards and just asked for some cash and stuff like that.

And I should remind you that:
  1. The Dalai Lama you're talking about (Tenzin Gyatzo/the 14th) was only 4 at the time.
  2. Sternberg's soldiers were occupying Lhasa
  3. Sternberg confined the Dalai Lama in Potola palace "for his personal safety"... with a force of about 200 of his mercenaries to "guard and watch over him".
  4. There are multiple reliable testimonies from countless former palace servants that state that Sternberg personally threatened to "burn Lhasa and it's inhabitants to the ground unless you cooperate" in front the Dalai Lama's face... while pointing a gun to his head.
  5. Said threat was given the day after Sternberg personallt ordered some 50 monks to be publically burnt to death as a warning anyone who dared resist him... all while making sure the Dalai Lama was watching.
Cut the kid some slack, he was in a difficult position and didn't know any better. He did all he could to save the lives of his subjects. So please, QUIT BELIEVING IN THAT STUPID "JUST FOLLOWING ORDERS" MYTH...

...

Sorry if you didn't know, but it just pisses me off when people try to paint that poor boy as some sort of mini-tyrant.

Well of course, Ungern's invasion of the warlord states would've been prevented as would his eventual dominion over vast areas of China also would've been prevented.

Your arguments are laughable and mostly propaganda from India.
1- It was Bogd Khan who proclaimed him to be Mahakala, Avatar of War God. However Ungern never denayed or confirned this title.
2- Those solders where Tibetian volunteers, all of them will be proclaimed heroes by Dalai Lama, after Ungern death.
3- Those where not mercenaries but Tibetian monks who guarded Lama from his birth, abd there was danger for Dalai Lama from communist rebels.
4- Such testimonies where made by Transcontinental Sociakist Unuon in 1957 to justify their communist regime in Tibet, regime that I will remain you, killed over two million tibetians and burned their temples.
5- Such event never happened, agents of Transcontinental Socialist Union admited that they made it uo to discredit the Baron.
Baron Ungern was one who protected Inner Mongolians from Chinese genocide and added them to Middle-Asian Empire, where their culture was safe.

Yes indeed, he "protected" them after (forcibly) adding them to his loonybin of an empire, after killing off tens of thousands of said inner Mongolians during his invasion of their land. But I guess it's all fine and dandy since the oh so benevolent baron-war god protected them from genocide from the super evil chinese.

OOC: Minor question, is there any other POD in this ATL other than Sternberg going to Tibet? Been wondering after you mentioned the existence of an "Indian Union" in 1939.

OCC: Scramble for Africa happens earlier and fastervand France take Tripoli, making their colonisation easier abd faster, taking al if north Africa until Congo river, all of south Congo is British. After several larger colonial wars, with mostly French victory, witch caused middleveast to fall under France, UK collalse abd turn into socialist state. India brakes free but in 1949 was annexed into Socialist UK (Transcontinental Socialist Union), later TSU establish puppet regime in Tibet.

Again, it was never proven Ungern did anything on self initiative, he followed orders from Tiberian leadership. If he wanted to be dictator, he should stayed in Inner Mongolia.

Well, the Dalai Lama would probably still hold political power in Tibet, instead of the Panchen Lama. And the Tibetan State probably wouldn't be a Socialist lapdog.
