DBWI: Truman Defeats Dewey

It's just a pity that caused the Korean population, and a lot of Americans, to turn against the war. It was a very bad mistake. It's a good thing Byrnes fixed all that.

The North koreans started that mess, and as bad as it was we have a free korea now all the way up to the Yalu river now, in the long run it worked out.

Might butterfly away the war on drugs. In my opinion one of the worst legacies of Dewey's otherwise pretty admirable administration.

I'd also be interested in seeing how US law enforcement develops without Dewey. He was the great Crimebuster President and really put pressure on the FBI to get back to fighting the Mafia instead of looking for Communists under every rock.

This is borderline ASB - not quite Hoover wins 1932 or Anderson wins 1984, but getting there. If Truman had tried to avoid the Southern split, he'd have only exacerbated his Henry Wallace problem, and vice versa. You'd have needed some sort of Republican scandal to blow up in October (perhaps Dewey wasn't as squeaky clean a prosecutor as he made out?), but based off polling even that would have simply reduced Dewey's EV total from 400ish down to the low 300s.
