I found Superman's robotic companion and its transformation into the "healing suit" and then into a sort of powered armour to be inspired. That said, "inspired" doesn't mean it wasn't weird. And I still think Nick Cage, Superman fan that he is, is not really a good casting fit for Superman. I wonder whether they'll "reboot" the Superman film series now, given that they're already trying that with Batman. Yeah, I don't like the Johnson films. Shoot me !
I have this gut feeling that, had a new Supes film not been made in the 90s, the willingness to continue the Batman series wouldn't have dried up as soon as it did. For one, I'm glad Warners decided to postpone Batman and Robin. I already found Batman Forever to be corny as all hell, especially Kidman, TLJ and Carrey hamming it up and Kilmer not really being convincing as either Batman or Bruce Wayne. Maybe we've dodged a bullet by SL! getting made, but we'll never know. The leaked script for Batman and Robin sounded rather horrendous and the Batgirl introduction even worse than the one with Robin. At least now, if they successfully reboot Batman, maybe they could do the same for Supes in the near future. Maybe they could even take some inspiration from the DCAU and do a live-action Batman/Superman team-up film. World's Finest didn't do it for me.
