DBWI: There was a Subway World Series in 2000?

In 2000, the Seattle Mariners finished with the best record in baseball. In the ALCS, the Mariners miraculously win the last 2 games over the New York Yankees and depriving New Yorkers the chance to see the Mets vs. the Yanks in the World Series.

Instead, it was the Mariners who swept the Mets and won their first World Series championship.

What would have happened if the Yankees had won the ALCS that year?

ummm.

my boss at the time might've been mildly happier.

can't think of any other effects, or even any that anyone outside of sports fandom would pretend to care about.

right, that's it, the grumpy is getting loose.

Time to knock off and go home.

tootles.

My Mariners wouldn't have won a world series, that's what!

The Yankees' streak of six consecutive World Series victories would be seven.

Barring a large disaster, the TV ratings for such a series would be pretty low. Just consider that the only reason the 1989 World Series was as highly rated when it was the San Francisco Giants and Oakland A's, was the sudden Loma Prieta Earthquake. If anything, at least the San Francisco Giants were able to claim victory in the "Bay Bridge Series".....

(OOC: Yes, I know the Oakland A's won the 1989 World Series, but I am still a major fan of the San Francisco Giants)
