The Patriots are the new Buffalo Bills. With last night's loss, they have lost their last five Super Bowl appearances. There was last night, the 28-3 loss to Green Bay last year, Beast Mode carrying the ball into the end zone for the Seahawks, and the Manningham and Tyree circus catches for the Giants. The Patriots haven't won a Lombardi since Spygate and the shutdown of their cheating apparatus, which fuels the perception that all three of their titles were fraudulent.

But what if they had won one of those games? Maybe Pete Carroll makes a dumb play call like he did against Texas and the Patriots hold on to win? Or the Eagles trick play before the half fails? Or Brady makes an epic comeback last year (yeah, I know, 28-3 and coming back to win would be ASB).

Would Belichick be considered a Hall of Fame coach if he had a title without an asterisk? Would there be better ratings without the same old Patriots serving as an almost assured win for the NFC? Would New England start trading backups like Green Bay in the late Favre era, instead of hoping Brissette/Jimmy G is the heir apparent?
