DBWI: The original Star Wars Tetrology released as a trilogy instead?

It's a pretty well known fact for Star Wars nerds that George Lucas got sick of working on Star Wars. He planned for only one more movie to complete the saga and in the original script (titled Revenge of the Jedi) many sudden revelations and retcons were made to wrap the story up as soon as possible even if they didn't make much sense (Luke and Leia were supposed to be brother and sister ewww).

But then Marcia Lucas was injured in that car crash and George quit being involved in Star Wars at all to focus on his family which had been neglected because he was a workaholic.
Production was halted and Spielberg as a favor to his friend took the helm (after George finally agreed to DGA's demands)
Revenge of the Jedi being deemed as "too crowded" was split into the two films we know Wrath of the Emperor and Triumph of the Rebellion with Richard Marquand (who had been hired to direct the original Revenge of the Jedi script) directing WOTE and Spielberg finishing the OT with TOTR
What would have happened if the original plan had gone through? Would it have been a bomb? Would we have the 90's Thrawn Show or late 2000's /early 2010's Prequel movies? Would George still have started directing smaller Avant Garde films with Marcia?

Honestly, if you cut out all the flashback segments of young Ben and Anakin in the Clone Wars you could just about stitch the remains of WOTE and TOTR into a decent film. IIRC someone actually made exactly that supercut and posted it to youtube, only for their work to get iced a day later for (OBVIOUS) copyright violations.

Maybe it would have been a big success, considering how many "likes" recieved the "Supercut", and speaking of it, i downloaded that hour before it was taken down from youtube.
