DBWI: The legacy of President Arthur Hitler

We all remember President Hitler, controversial for his rabid anti-communism, his authoritarian power during the war years and his unprecedented five terms, which probably led to that 22nd amendment thingy, but also a legend for combatting the depression successfully and for his many other successes.

In 1889, a mere months before his birth his parents, Alois and Klara Hitler, arrived in New York city to build up a new life as they had had a bout of bad luck during the late 1880s in Austria and face it, Austria-Hungary may have been a cultural centre, but was torn apart by its problems and not exactly an economic powerhouse. Born on April 20th 1889 as Adolf Hitler, he had trouble finding his goal. He was unsuccessful as an artist and enlisted in the army. He would become a distinguished officer in WW1, reaching the rank of colonel and serving as a staff officer after shrapnel in his leg in the Battle of Cambrai in 1917 witheld him from returning to frontline duty.

After the war, he discovered his true calling: politics. He turned out to be one of the greatest orators in history and became a vocal proponent of the war veterans who returned from the war wanting their due for their fighting. Becoming District Attorney after a law study and then mayor of New York after changing his name to Arthur, the way was paved for a brilliant political carreer that has contributed to the USA's status as the superpower.

It is now 2000, 50 years after the man's death. Some say it was a good thing he died during his fifth term. He was losing popularity and the Dems lost the congressional elections.

What do you people think of President Arthur Hitler?

OOC; Another Hitler rulez Amerika thing. Boring.

OOC: Well your no fun and if you werent going to contribute why did you post at all?

In my school my teacher always refers to President Hitler in a negative tone for his unconstitutional power and effect on this country. He predicts that if Hitler had not died while in the White House he would have never stepped down. We've all heard of the Freedom-Corps and their riots against communists and socialists neighborhoods. Maybe it was a good thing he died when he did?

Also, i heard he got syphilis from some actress after a broadway show.

Hitler couldn't become president since he wasn't a naturalized citizen.

OOC: accoring to the OP he was apparently born in the USA in TTL.
Kinda like how the AlternateHistory Wikia has President Churchill, Mao, and a few others.

IC: he was one of the most.....Influential presidents.
for better or worst.

I started writing somthing similare to this in the ASB area because I couldn't find any real reason why Hitlers family moves to America befor he is born.

He was a great president and he should be admired for his reinvigoration of the economy through militarization.

What also hurt the Democrats was that Hitler's successor, President Joseph Kennedy Sr. was incompetent as a leader. He botched up the Korean civil war by trusting too much in General MacArthur, and Secretary of War Eisenhower resigned in disgust.

After the Republicans won back the House and Senate, they kept their promise to investigate Attorney General J. Edgar Hoover and his total disregard for civil liberties. Congressman Richard Nixon was the lead prosecutor in his impeachment trial. When Senator Richard Russell voted aye on the first article of impeachment, it was all over for Hoover (and for Kennedy too). Nevertheless, Nixon became a national figure and champion of civil liberties which helped him win election to the Senate in 1952.

President Kennedy's son, John was not so lucky. He served three terms in Congress but failed to unseat Senator Lodge.

It was not a surprise when Wayne Morse was elected President in 1952.

This brings us to the real interessting topic. Hitler and the chicks. I´mean Eva Hitler (23 years younger then him) was the hottest First Lady ever. Then the underaged german niece. And the rumor, that he died during a threesome with Eva and this blonde starlet. Norma Jean Baker or what was her name?

DBWIs such as this one are an exercise in futility. Apart from having the same parents, this Hitler is a completely different person from the one in OTL. Because of the twitch rule, he doesn't even have exactly the same genes, and everything about his life is different: different education, different upbringing, different life opportunities, different socialization, you name it.

In short, apart from having a US president whose name happens to be Hitler, I just don't see the point.

In OTL Hitler is deemed unfit to be an officer. Does he join the army at the outbreak of war? If so reaching the rank of colonel in three years is over the top. Even if he enlisted earlier it is still a senior rank.
