DBWI: The Georgia Invasion

President Cheney recently stepped down from power to let good ol' boy Mike Huckabee get swept into the White House. This comes, of course, at a time when Huckabee's home state of Virginia is beginning to feel a little separation anxiety from the Old Confederacy.

Of course, Cheney's casual step down from power brings a little wondering in what the hell was the whole invasion of Georgia about? South Carolina and Alabama threatened to intervene, but ultimately, Georgia was the aggressor.

Still, their punishment was hardly worth their crime... don't you think?

Of course, Cheney will only be out of power for a precious few hours when he goes back to Wyoming and becomes Representative... and then Speaker of the House for sure. Any other thoughts on the Georgian Invasion or how the REST OF THE WORLD said basically nothing about it?

OOC: what? I'm not sure I follow.......

ooc:i think he is talking about how the usa balkanized and the union invaded georgia.

ic: hm this sorta thing makes me think that the united kingdom will make a stab at scotland and northern ireland.

OOC: DBWIs usually start with a POD that really was taken, and then we pretend to conjecture the rest. But if the thread doesn't start with a POD, then how are we to follow along? I thought he was talking about Russia's recent invasion of the country of Georgia.

EDIT: I get it now!

yeah it was complicated for me 2 because it wasnt like a standard DBWI with the thing actually happening, it was the south carolina part that gave it away 4 me.

Virginia is in a tough spot. Huckabee's president, but the aggression in Georgia may push the commonwealth.

But why would Cheney step down? When the going gets tough, do the tough get going?

But, Georgia's getting what's coming to it. The economic crisis is hardly a reason to form a new economy! Then when the government intervened, they mobilized soldiers! What's wrong with those people?!

Virginia is a lot more Unionist than other parts of the US. Notably Texas which has only recently been readmitted to the Union and rejected the Confederacy (in 1974? Someone please check that for me).

Of course, now that the economy is in trouble... one must wonder what incentive Texas has to stay in the Union and simply not rejoin the Confederacy.

It's just the precedent of further warfare in North America. Things are too intertwined and Cheney is too close to the Presidency (despite stepping down) for me to feel even remotely safe here in Unionist Delaware.

Here's a North American map...
