DBWI The DC assasination of 1952 does not happen

March 2nd 1952

Jerry Lebou and Sam Houston two KKK members decided that the director of the FBI was a threat and attacked a DC diner where Hoover was having a business lunch. The two men stormed the dinner's back room and emptied their guns. The men that Hoover was having lunch with was Richard Nixon and his wife Pat, and then Senator Joe Macarthy.

Both Pat Nixon and the late Senator died during the attack, Richard Nixon lost his right eye and was forced to wear his defining eyepatch the rest of his life, Hover had to be rushed to a hospital but would return to work fully healed in a month.

The two men ran and were later caught two weeks later, the two men used their trial to proclaim their loyalty to the organization and claim that this was just the begining. The event changed american polatics and heavily affected both of the survivors.

But what if the assasinations had never happened what would the world look like today?

Well, for one thing, Eisenhower is still elected President.

I know, crazy, you say. We needed the general to guide us through, and he seemed like such a steadying hand. He appointed men like Earl Warren who said he'd be very pro Civil Rights and so on, and he was. It's said that Ike was the only man who could have done it.

But, I think he wins the GOP nomination anyway. Look who he was up agaisnt - Robert Taft, who would have made America very isolationist. I think Ike would have been scared of Taft winning and jumped into the fray. Maybe not in early march like he did, but surely by May.

Ike's focus would have been foreign policy, though, rather than domestic. he might still be pro Cxivil Rights, buthe'd let thigns slowly run their course, more laissez faire, just like Truman had done. And, the tide was turning toward Civil Rights - we'd have had them by the '60s, just not the mid'50s.
