DBWI: Terrorists Attack the USSA!

People's Journal of New York (27 February 1993)

The World Trade Center, world-renown symbol of the power and influence of the United Socialist States of America, was attacked yesterday by terrorists. Residents of New York City watched in horror as the North Tower of the WTC was knocked into the South Tower, bringing both towers down in a blast of smoke and flames. The full death toll has yet to be determined, but New York Commissar Lynch estimates it to be in the thousands.

OOC: The premise of this TL is twofold: that the USA is a socialist nation (freer than the USSR but very Marxist/socialist), and that the 1993 bombing of the WTC succeeded as Ramzi Yousef planned.

Quite frankly, this is just an natural consequence of the USSA's present policy towards the middle east. I know the kibbutzim are quite nice little syndicalist institutions so the IWW will defend them to the death, but Israel is no longer really based around them, and our continuing alliance with them speaks poorly of us (IMHO).

Meanwhile, the often unequal dealings we have with other communist nations in our sphere of influence, such as the Arab Federation, shows an unwillingness to bring true Marxism (rather than the authoritarian "Marxist-Leninism") to the people of the world, and to treat them as partners in the WWR (worldwide revolution) rather than client states.

I don't mean to act as though this was not a horrible act, but the oppressed always rise against their oppressors, whether domestic or international. It really is a shame our lopsided foreign policy creates people like Yousef.
