We are all in our bunkers whiling away the days until our supplies run out and we have to go upstairs and die of radiation poisoning.

Thank goodness for underground cables or we’d be sooooo bored!

OOC: You do realize that there was a 0% chance that the Suez Crisis was going to lead to WWIII, don't you?

Well if whe had someone besides Mr Ego MacArthur as President.
The 50's was ripe for a ex- General as President. Patton may have been as bad as MacArthur, Maybe Eisenhower who was Montgomery's second in Command.
?If Eisenhower Didn't back the British/French?

Course whe would also need to get rid of Stalin as leader in the USSR. Stalin was in poor health, so lets have him die in the early 50's.

?Who would take over for Eisenhower to negotiate with.?

OOC: Well let's see. The US took direct hits to Washington DC (obviously), New York City (or more accurately, Brooklyn Naval Yard), San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Detroit, and Tacoma. As of 2010, it is currently at an economic and population level equivalent to the early 20th century. Continental Europe and the former USSR is worse. Germany has basically ceased to exist as a nation in any form and is a total desert-thanks to tactical nuclear warfare-and all the other states are balkanized and/or extremely impoverished and unstable. In other words, it's like OTL Africa, except with random spots of radioactivity and ruins.

Get the British to be more active in postwar Egyptian affairs to the extent that they ensure Farouk remains on the throne. Then negotiate a more flexible treaty with regard to the Canal and attendant zone, kudos for the King (which he desperately wanted), no real loss of face for the British or indeed the French, no six days war.

Simple? Certainly not.
Achievable? Quite possibly.

OOC: Hm... Are you sure that Chicago was in the Soviet's range? That's almost in the MIDDLE of the country.

OOC:BUMP!
IC: I just received an update on the situation of France. The government has opened up renewed peace talks with Basque separatists in the southwest. The Basque areas were comparatively lightly affected and have been in on/off rebellion against the rather weak French government.

that's good,.

what bothers me is that the Soviet's Didn't hit Texas, not that i'm ungratefull for that, but Texas has some key Military Targets.
Yeah, but Texas was out of the range of most of the Soviet bombers. The real trouble began when refugees began pouring in from the devasted areas up north.

OOC: That might be true with OTL leadership. However, this TL has Joseph Stalin living a little longer on one side, and Douglas MacArthur becoming POTUS on the other side. Do the math.:p

MacArthur = A high chance of nuclear warfare, with a possibility of acid rain.
