DBWI: State of Colorado

I was looking at some various books that have been posted up on GoogleBooks, and I was able to come upon this gem:

Some of the names suggested at the meeting included Colorado, Jefferson, Franklin, Jackson, Lafayette, San Juan, and Lula.

So, what if the great state of Yampa was named Colorado? What butterfly effects would this have had on history?

Colorado is such an ugly name, there would probably be a bunch of jokes about them being hill billies or dumb. There might even be a show based around the 'Typical Colorado Mountain Town' that becomes a sort of satire of the way the typical American Kids are. Seeing as it's not a rich state, the quality of the animation probably won't be good, and it will probably be marketed more to adults who would get the humour that come with the strange stories about the town. I mean a typical Colorado town is boring, just like any other small town, so the writerts would probably send these "Coloradese" kids off on adventures that have no basis in plausibility.

I'll even bet one of them dies every episode as a running joke.

Colorado is better than the current name I think. Yampa just sounds so odd, Colorado sounds a bit better and makes a bit more sense since the river covers more of the state. I think Pueblo makes a good alternative name for Yampa for what its worth. And what the show you're talking about seems a lot like Gobbler's Crossing except set in Yampa instead of Alabama.

(OOC: How exactly is Colorado indicative of trolls?)

I don't know why they would have picked Colorado as the name for Yampa. The Colorado River and Colorado Plateau are barely in Yampa and aren't really of any significance in Yampa. At least the eponymous river is entirely in the state.

I guess for butterflies you might get the people in western Yampa to concentrate further south? Considering that they would be settling along the Colorado River instead of the Yampa River. Although I don't really think that's likely since the cities in Yampa were largely dictated by the gold and silver mines.

OOC: Where did the name Yampa come from originally? And Colorado is obviously indicative of Mexican trolls who are angry that we annexed their land. ;)

I can't see anything big changing...though I guess UY will need a different name, since UC is California.

Honestly, when has Yampa actually done anything important?
