Yeah its a bit of a common AH thread but meh, we haven't had it for a while and I feel like making a thread.
WI in the power struggles after Lenin's death Stalin had managed to be the one who clambered to the top?
Supposidly he was a lot 'nicer' then Trotsky, he would have worked at developing the USSR into a modern, developed country rather then waging war against all and sundry. Also without all those purge's of people Trotsky believed were opposed to him... Well things could only have been better right?
Just how well would Stalin have done?
(assume Trotsky meets a similar fate to Stalin, runs away into exile for a few years then becomes involved in a 'unfortunate fishing accident')
