The Moriscos are a large ethnic group in modern Spain and Portragul, who are the descendants of the many Iberian Muslims forced to convert to Christianity during and after the reconquista. Although they are a well established group in Iberia at this point, and the idea of expelling them is seen as ridiculous even among all but the most extreme of the far right in the Iberian nations, it was once a very possible and even likely thing to happen, and almost did happen under Philip III. The recent Independance referendum in Granada got me thinking about this topic, so I want to see what you guys think. How likely was such an event to occur, how could it have happened and, most importantly, what would the effects have been on Iberia and the world in general if this occurred?
