DBWI Soviet's don't deindustrialize east germany

The Morgenthau-Plan was considered but was in the end dismissed, the british in the famous words of their then prime minister did not want to be chained to a corpse, the french dispite their war time experience also dismissed it as a bad idea, the american's who took the idea seriously also decided that it was a bad idea and it was decided that west germany would be rebuilt. The soviets though wanted vengence. There had been talk of making their part of germany east germany into a model communist state. Those plans fell through after an attempted assasination attempt on a russian general. After that it was decided that in east germany the Russians would enact their own Morgenthau plan conquences be damned.

This program would remain in place until the fall of the berlin wall during 89, but what if the soviets had allowed the germans to continue having industry in their zone, if they had been less brutal less vicious how would that have changed germany, and the world?

If the Soviet Reorganization-For-Prosperity Program never went through, East Germany might still be part of the Soviet Union, with its intact industry and population improving the Soviet economy and thus its ability to hold onto East Germany. It might even speak German instead of Russian. Would the Berlin Wall even fall in this case?

well, their electronics and optics would be a WHOLE lot better.

When the US was manufacturing 256Kb chips, the Russians could only manage 16K. If they had German industry and scientists, they'd be way closer to the US.

[OOC: at that point, East Germany was making 65Kb chips; no Germany, and you've got even worse electronics. Moreover, Karl Zeiss Jena had by far the best optics of anyone in the Soviet blok, and you need fancy optics not only for spy satellites but for manufacturing semiconductors. This USSR would be WAY behind the West.]

The state-owned auto and tractor plants of Poland, Czechoslovakia, and Hungary would be somewhat worse off if they didn't each have de facto monopolies in parts of East Germany. Imagine some cheap German car instead of Maluchs and Yugos.

Less immigration of German workers to West Germany or the rest of the Warsaw Pact, without the enforced economic stagnation.

Gone Fishin'
Likely no collectivation of the argriculture sector and no co agriculture farms, since there would have been enough industries to turn into VEBs...

Perhaps the German economy would be stronger post-unification without the east being a massive welfare case.

Thats going to be the case for awhile, in some cities the russians didn't even let the germans have electricity, much less things like TVs, or radios. The place that got shafted the worse is still called the vally of the clueless by germans to this day. That said you are not going to find people who are more pro capitalist then the east germans. So I think they will catch up in time.

Definitely they Elected Hans Herman Hoppe, amd invited Singaporian administrators. Savings rate of 40% of income did mean they spring up back fast.
