DBWI: Should Newfoundland join Canada or the US?

Since before Canada became a country, Newfoundland politics has flirted with the idea of joining Confederation. In 1949, we had the closest vote ever, something like 51/49 in favour of responsible government.

Since WWII, there have also even been talks of joining the US, as exemplified in the 1993 referendum following the fishery collapse.

Should Newfoundland join one of the two larger entities?

I'd say Canada is the better bet. After all, Newfoundland has more in common with its neighbor than with the United States. Besides, we're still trying to digest Puerto Rico.

There is better chance with the United States. They might even unify Nefoundland with Greenland. Far more secure than having to deal with Quebec continuing their drive for all of Labrador.
