DBWI: shirley Temple Black loses 1968 Republican Primary to McCloskey

As we all know Shirley temple Black won her party's nomination for congress in 1968 in a nail-biter primary against liberal Pete McCloseky. She would later go on to be nominated for Vice President By George HW Bush in 1988 in a bold move. She went on to help him win re election 1992 by helping him carry California. She went on to win the Presidency for herself in 1996 and 2000 riding on a strong economy . What if she lost in '68 would the ERA passed without a strong Female opponent to dissuade a majority of moderate women that it would cause more harm than good, would the Supreme court have overturned Roe v. Wade in 2002, and would suburban women be a strong Conservative Republican block without her?

OOC: Well, now that you've explained everything that happens in this ATL we can't really add anything more to it...

We would not have the strong child labor laws, and sexual protection laws for children that we now have. She was able to get those laws passed once she told how she had been molested as a child star. She was behind the Death for child molesters laws.

Death for Child molesters even passed in Massachusetts with 55%of the vote.

OCC: I was looking what the nation may look like after 2 1/2 decades pf conservative dominance in the American Political scene

I am somewhat amazed that between her and Reagen, half of our last four Presidents have come from Hollywood. Given how well both of them did in DC, maybe we should keep our fingers crossed that the rumors with Senator James Woods thinking about runninng for the GOP nod are true :D

Agreed. Without her there would be no way Arnold Schwarzenegger ends up running for Governor of California let alone winning
