DBWI: Seth McFarlane doesnt die on 9/11

We all know that Family Guy creator Seth McFarlane died on 9/11 when American Airlines flight 11 was hijacked and flown into the WTC. But what if he had overslept or something? Would Family Guy still be on the air? What about that proposed "American Dad" show he was floating around?

think he means that show with that dog and idiot guy...only went to pilot and was some sort of wierd slapstic adventure through a department store....dunno where he got the name family guy from though, and wasnt american dad that propaganda show with real life versions of uncle sam and such?

(OOC: Family Guy was still on the air and well established as a series by 2001 (though it was on the verge of cancellation), so its not like it wouldnt exist in this timeline)

What's Family Guy?

It was 'The Simpsons' with a talking dog. Fox Television canned it after two seasons, well before McFarlane died. They bought a third season of him and it was screened in late 2001, early 2002, but they kept moving it around as a filler show and had no great interest in it. These types of show really only have so many jokes to wheel out, there wasn't really any expectation that there would be a 4th season even before McFarlane died.

What's Family Guy?

Not a lot of Adult Swim watchers here I take it? I remember in the mid-aughts it used to be on all the time, and had quite a fanbase. I suppose a lot of that could have been the novelty of a show made by a 9/11 victim, but somehow, I don't think McFarlane's career would be over even after FOX cancelled his show.

Family Guy is official know as lousy clone from "The Simpson"
see the Mad Magazine sardonically annual 2001 TV award for "TV's Most original Animated Series".
McFarlane was on way to NY to get the Award by Adam Sandler, as 9/11 happened.

even Seth McFarlane had lived, i have my doubt that Family Guy would be become a success.
Like Fox had with The Simpson spinoff "Futurama" (about last members of Simpson family in year 3000)

sonner or later he & scrip-riders had run out of Ideas, maybe he start to rip off famous movies.
like competitor "Robochicken" and there brilliant spoof on Star Wars.

Or McFarlane had restart old animated TV shows like Yogi Bear, but with real actors.
(see his controversial interview at San Diego Comic Con in 2000)

Agree. no surprise you don't remember it clearly. It was essentially Simpsons clone with a lot more cynicism.
The show most usefulness (in retrospect) was it essentially killed the Simpsons at the right time, near season ten, clearing the way for Futurama.

If the show had stuck around I think it could have matured pretty well. They would have dropped the poop jokes and pop culture references over it's run in order to keep it fresh.
