DBWI: Seth MacFarlane Lives

For those of you who haven't heard of Seth MacFarlane, he was the creator of Family Guy, a funny animated sitcom show that ran from 1999-2001. It's sort of like The Simpsons, but with a lot more crude and non-family friendly jokes.

Unfortunately, Seth was killed in the September 11 attacks on board American Airlines Flight 11. Since he did the voicework for half of the major characters, they had to cancel it after he died.

So let's say he gets drunk the night before or caught in traffic and misses the flight. How long could Family Guy have gone on if he had lived? IIRC, it was starting to get popular, so I can see 2 or 3 more good seasons, but it might suffer from the inevitable quality decline that comes from forcing a show to continue running past its lifespan.

Can't see anything big going for him. Family Guy wasn't getting good ratings and it looked as if Fox was going to cancel it soon anyways even if he didn't die.

That would probably end his career making TV shows, considering his only one was a flop. Furthermore, from what I'm reading about this obscure show on wikipedia, it just seemed like a ripoff of The Simpsons.

Ya never know. Some fans of the show were saying that it was actually starting to really take off.:(

Just a thought, what if it's Family Guy, and not Groening's Futurama that makes a return to the Fox network after some extended period of cancellation? I know, Family Guy strikes me as too much of a cult show to get the kind of following that would prompt that kind of return. But you never know. Other thn that I don't know where this goes. I mean, the rest of the cast has gone on to bigger and better things, well at least Mila Kunis has. Yes I'll admit it I checked the cast list. Apparently one of the women from Mad TV was one it, you know, the actress who played Mrs. Swan? I

ASB fox, and television in general, rarely ever bring back a cancelled show, futurama was the one exception and that took 5 years to get back on the air!

If it ever does get taken up again after being canceled, it's going to be some late night slot on the Cartoon Network or Comedy Central.

Besides, the show was in rather bad taste, really wasn't that funny. I can't imagine anyone except maybe teenage boys even wanting to watch it.

Personally, I'd rather have seen something like Clerks: The Animated Series get going instead.

I don't see it going too far even if it was brought back. About the only character I could see being spun off and making it would be Quagmire.
Baby & Dog, (Steve and Brian?), might have some mileage if they'd been allowed to develop the characters more though.
