La Plata, under the Saavedra Junta, one of the longest military governments in history, has been one of the most successful states in the New World, rivaling the USA and Gran Colombia. dominating the southern Andes and the Southern Cone. But this wasn't inevitable, and your goal is to prevent this.

ooc: just to establish borders, OTL Argentina, Chile, Bolivia (before the war of the pacific), Paraguay and Uraguay are all part of this La Plata. status of a certain archipelago off its shore will be decided later on if someone else comments

Considering the only failure of the junta was not having the guts to seek war with Britain over the Falklands speaks of sanity which you don't see in many junta's. It's pretty successful

I apologize going into After 1900 territory, but La Plata wouldn’t had sided with the German Empire in 1916, which lead to Gran Columbia and Brazilian Empire invading, and taking Uruguay (Brazil) and Bolivia (Gran Colombia), and then become fascist in 1928, and join the Axis Powers of Italy, Germany, Tokogawa Shogunate, Confederate States of America, and Maratha Empire in WWII.

If La Plata was screwed, say Brazil invaded, it would’ve been a side-note in world history, but could still be a regional Power

I wouldn't say "failure" since Britain handed the Falklands and South Georgia to La Plata in 1990 anyway. A win against what was still a major power at the time and former world hedgemon would be a huge boost, though.

Have La Plata explode early on like the US did. Not tough since much of it is isolated from Buenos Aires along the Pacific. Some help from early Brazil and (maybe) UK could make this very possible.

La Plata is the only nation where the military rule has worked. All other countries under military rule such as Russia, Iran and Thailand have become hellholes. Have the same happening to La Plata is quite possible.
