DBWI: Satanism not a major religion in the US

with 3 million people in the Church of Satan in the US alone (this doesn't count the many smaller Satanic movements, or the Church's smaller branches in Europe and Canada) and with the young lady in California's 9th congressional district looks as if she's about to become the first Satanist in the US government, i have to wonder is there any way that Satanism could of not been successful?

Probably no World War 3 in the 60s that led to that quagmire in Germany and Vietnam. I mean its hard not to be cynical with 2 million Americans dead and the genocide of the Hmong by the North Vietnamese.

Some massive cultural shift ... I mean, the Satanic ideals match those of American society very well. The idea of striving for your personal success and the success of those you care about, whether at the expense of yourself or others, not to mention the hedonistic elements just fit American society so well. It's pro-capitalist and individualistic.

And let's face it, how many people do we know in our lives that basically ARE worthless 'psychic vampires' that take and take, and never give anything in return?

Perhaps if socialist and communal ideas had become more prevalent in the United States at the turn of the 20th century, the milieu would be inappropriate for Satanism. Either that or somehow avoiding the massive surge of interest in the occult in the Sixties, which was accelerated by the Third World War, but started before it.
