It's a little known fact that when Van Halen were looking for a new singer in 1985, Sammy Hagar was strongly considered to be frontman, but they decided against it and instead went with Patty Smyth (formerly of Scandal). She helped open a lot of doors for women in the world of hard rock (and rock in general), but what if they had gone with Hagar? Would Van Halen still had remained popular (if not as important), or would they have flamed out with him. On a side note, it's still surprising that David Lee Roth still has a huge solo career, a lot of people dont even associate him with VH anymore, and of course, his guitarist Jason Becker constantly tops the list of "best guitarist of the year" polls (OOC: In this timeline, Becker doesnt get ALS, allowing him to continue playing guitar for Dave's band).
