As we all know, Russia joining the Central Powers played a major role in securing victory for them. But what if Russia had instead joined the Entente and the Ottomans joined the Central Powers instead? The other important question would be how can this be done? How would the war have gone down? What would be the aftermath? Discuss.

It would honestly be quite interesting to see how the Russians would have done against the Germans. By the 20s, of course, their modernization was complete and the Russian Empire basically remains the most powerful country on earth, but of course their army did have a lot of problems against the IJA and less so against the Turks. i'd say a way to fix this is to butterfly the German guarantee of aid to the Japanese; after the Russians won the Battle of Tsushima the British threatened to join on the side of the Japanese to keep the balance of power, and it was only German support that kept them out and allowed Russia to become the hegemon of north Asia.

One thing that comes to mind is that it would be interesting to see how much longer the Raj would hold out; after the Russian victory in the Punjab campaign it collapsed quickly to revolting Princes and Socialists. Without the external pressure could the Raj hold on?

I'd also suggest having the League of the Three Emperors fall in order to have this actually happen.

easy way to do that have the Hungarian revolt, revolution and succession fail or have Austria decide that the 1901-1902 war is worth fighting for after French threats of intervention.

When Hungry left taking the southern portion of the country with it, Austria and Russia no longer had competing claims, now it was Hungary and Russia that had competing claims spheres of influence.

The central powers would probably be screwed, assuming Austria Hungary isn’t powerful enough in this scenario to take Russia’s role.

Yeah. The British Raj have become modern and stable states, if namely talking usually mainly to Russia or the USA (well, really it’s the Second Sikh Empire who talks to the USA the most).

Grantee, the Ottomans hanged on and managed to get the most after the end of the war by eventually absorbing most of Arabia, barring the British protectorates and making Cyprus a Jewish associate state.

They left Asia and focus mainly on North Africa. I get the feeling Ottomans would’ve been carved by the British and French in the long run

Also agree that a Russian defeat at Tsushima would change a lot of things.
With the loss of influence in Asia, it is very likely that Pan-Slavism became the new direction of the Russian diplomacy and thus that its interests collides with the ones of Austria-Hungary making the league of the 3 emperor very fragile.
As we all know the Weltpolitik of Wilhelm was the main trigger leading to the creation of the Entente. I can easily see the British making a few concessions in Persia and central Asia in order to make Russia join the Entente. With the difference of size in economy, population, army + the blockade, there is no way that the Central Power could do anything. Germany didn't even manage to knock out France alone in the first year leading to a horrific grinding campaign of 3 years, imagine the same thing with Russia in its back.
Now ofc if Russia was to become hostile to Germany, I would assume that the Kaiser as much as he likes his navy would give priority to the army rather than the navy.

OOC: If the Russians join the Central Powers there isn't going to be a world war, no matter who the Ottomans side with.

OCC: As above. How does this war even break out in this one? If the Russians arent backing Serbia, theres no blank cheque from Germany to AH, no blank cheque, no DOW between France and Germany which means that the war never starts. OP doesn't make a whole lot of sense? Its like asking what is the aftermath of Germany joining the Western Allies in WWII. Fight doesn't really kick off at all if the biggest antagonizes are on the same side ya know?

EDIT: Are we instead imagining a version of the Dreikaiserbund fighting the Entente and the Ottomans or?
