DBWI: Richard Lawrence Hadn't Carried a Second Gun?

Richard Lawrence assassinated Andrew Jackson on January 30, 1835. His first pistol misfired, but he had a second gun and shot Jackson outside the US Capitol, causing a debilitating spinal injury to the President. How would history have turned out differently if Richard Lawrence didn't shoot Jackson?

OOC: Lawrence carried two guns IOTL too. The second gun also ended up jamming.
OOC: I assume that the actual POD is that the second gun doesn't jam, but no one ITTL would possibly conceive of both pistols jamming so they are going for what seems like the more realistic POD.

IC: Martin Van Buren's tragic rise to the presidency gave him a lot of extra support. According to the Tennessee state museum, Hugh Lawson White had been preparing to run for president in 1836 but dropped out in respect for Jackson. Maybe he'd have run and split the Democratic vote and allowed Harrison to beat Van Buren. There were a lot of Southern states where a Southern Democrat vs. a Northerner (but with the backing of Jackson) could have totally split the Democratic vote and allowed Harrison to sneak through. You'd just need to make sure that it didn't fall close enough so that Webster and whoever won South Carolina's votes wouldn't lead to a hung electoral college.

EDIT OOC: Wow, my guess was correct
