DBWI: Qing China destroys Dzungar Khanate

The Dzungar Khanate collapsed today 170 years ago due to Russian intervention in the succession crisis, turning Dzungaria, Moghulistan etc into small protectorates against British influence. But not known much is that the Qing attempted this in the 18th centudy but only recovered Tibet and Qingai, and not further West.

So... the main question is... What if the Qing destroyed the Dzungar Khanate?

Ooc: not sure if this is possible but this era of history is underappreciated so I'll try something.

Destroyed in which way? A direct occupation or the OTL-like schema?

Probably the 2nd option would provide an opening for the Russian intervention somewhere in the XIX century.

Either way. Outright rule or vassalization by the Manchu

My point was that to change outright rule would require a war while changing affiliation of a vassal state would be much easier. I’d assume that at least some of the surviving people would flee to the Kalmyk people who already lived in Volga area within Russian Empire.
