DBWI: Qajar Dynasty deposed?

The Qajars are a really complex dynasty. They are a Persianized Dynasty of Oghuz Turkic origin. Except for the Shah and his heir, nobody else of the Dynasty is seen outside in Public Life. Today they are rather disliked in Iran (53% dislikes the monarchy, 29% likes the monarchy, 18% is unsure...). But the Shiites and Shia Clergy like them for their religiosity and efforts for the Shias over the world. Their attempts to become popular by renaming the state to Iran to include all ethnicities are still not really looked on positively. There was a small rise in popularity when the Shah send volunteers to the Arab States in their war in Palestine. But over all they are still not really liked.

There was a chance to be deposed in 1921 but Reza Khan, the leader of the coup forces, was arrested at State intelligence reporting him. What if his coup succeeded? Would an Iranian Republic fair better? Or would it be one of another Military Dictatorship like Syria, Iraq or Pakistan?

The 1920s were a wild time in Iran, I'm certain. I feel like there would've been a likely chance, had Reza's coup succeeded, he would institute a Republic but I'm sure he'd rule as dictator. Contrary to some historians, I honestly feel he wasn't someone who was interested in transferring control of power to the people.

Compared to the Communist revolution later that decade (and again in the 1950s) though, Reza did represent the best attempt at overthrowing the Qajars outside of foreign intervention.

Hard to say. Considering the general environment Iran is in, alongside other Conservative states like Transjordan, Syria, Nejd and Hejaz, I'm sure modern like Japan is a bit questionable. While my sense of monarchism can bleed into these matters, and what I say could be taken with a grain of salt. I honestly wouldn't put it past the dynasty if they kept things backwards.

Would Iran be modern as Japan without the Qajars? The Qajars are blamed on their conservatism as far as the 1970s.
Yeah with how the Shah appointed Khomeini as Prime Minister ended up in economic disaster that forces the Monarchy to finally arrange some sort of constitutional democracy during the late 1970s.

The Clerical Party ends up being also the Monarchist party, and still basically either the biggest, or the second-biggest party in Iran though. This is contrasted with the liberal party, who is basically so-and-so with the Monarch, and the socialist party, who is pretty much wanting to hold referendum to abolish the monarchy.

Is there chance that he will crown himself and establish Palevi Dynasty?
Don't be silly, Qajar have the roots up to 18th Century and even before, and the Iranian peerage, despite their Turkish origin, actually managed to incorporate upper echelons of the native Persians.

And when you think about it, the Turkish part of Qajars has been rather the Y-chromosome, especially after 20th century, who seeing many Princes married to daughters of high-ranking clerics. Heck, Dowager-Shahbanu Farideh herself is the Daughter of Ayatollah Khomeini.

The Qajars are foreigners ploys are the result of European trying to use divide et impera against Iran. Pahlevi might try to position himself as dictator, but he would style himself as president of persia instead of taking the crown
