As we all know, the German Confederation defeated Prussia in the Austro-Prussian War with the aid of France. The result of which saw Prussia neutralized as a threat and Bismarck's ousting from political power. But my fellow readers, I have to ask, what if Austria lost the Austro-Prussian War? Do you think that Prussia would have gained the same level of influence that Austria has today?
It could have gone either way, I suppose, but do remember, Austria has only remained the power that it is, thanks to Franz Josef III's willingness to reform the country into the Federation of the Danube in the 1920s, after they lost Trans-Balkan War.....because had that not happened, it might have gone down the same road that Prussia did in the '30s, with the rise of the Himmler regime and the Junkerpartei.
But perhaps if Prussia had indeed won the war, could they have avoided the rise of the hard-right in that country, that began in the 1880s? Would there have been no invasion and carving up of Schleswig-Holstein(and the annexation of the latter, including Hamburg, into Prussia)? Would there have been no funding of Polish nationalists such as Korzeniowski? We may never know for sure.
In any case, if you are seeking a victory for Prussia, you may wish to find a way to convince the Russians to enter the war on Prussia's behalf, instead of sitting out.....which may be difficult.
