United States President Maria Lopez was born in Cuba in the early days of statehood. First rising to political prominence as a "Corset Burning Feminist" in the late 70s, she gained the Progressive nomination in 1984, and took the oath of office in March of '85. Despite being booted out of office by democrat Robert Vanderbilt between the years of 1989 and 1997, Maria Lopez was able to secure five terms (the third president to do so.) She was the first woman President, the first Catholic, and the first of the Spanish race. With her death, her son, Vice President Jesus Lopez will secede her.
