With the announcement that President Clinton will seek a third term (being the first President to do so since Ronald Reagan's shocking defeat in the 1988 Republican primary by his own Vice President), are you planning on supporting him in the 2000 Presidential election?
I find it interesting that even since the Roosevelt Presidency, we've had few Presidents actually attempt to run for a third term. Truman backed out, Eisenhower cited health reasons for not pursuing another term, Kennedy...well, we know what happened there, Johnson was undone by the mess in Vietnam, Nixon had his own problems, but I believe that had he kept himself from breaking the law, he'd have won himself another term; Carter lost his bid for a second term, Reagan attempted a bid for a third term in 1988 but was outmaneuvered by Vice President Bush, who would subsequently go on to lose in 1992 to Bill Clinton...
Now that Clinton is in the mix, we might have seen Gore's campaign be effectively shelved, unless the Veep is planning on running against his boss, which is a definite possibility...Senator Wellstone of Minnesota has declared his candidacy in opposition to Clinton's from the left, and there are rumors that Ross Perot has another campaign in him as well, while the Republicans look like they're going to nominate Governor Bush of Texas.
So, then, who are you going to vote for in November? President Clinton? Governor Bush? Ross Perot? Ralph Nader?
