Will John Kerry win reelection or will he be defeated by Mike Huckabee? (*The POD is pretty obvious: John Kerry won in 2004.)

it's just like 1964, really. Huckabee is just to far right to win. i think he'll get the deep south (if he's lucky) Edwards has really worked hard to get the south on board so maybe even the deep south will go blue

The Dems are simply not going to show up at the polls. Kerry promised us an honorable withdraw from Iraq and now Iran owns a quarter of that country and Turkey is at war with the Kurds! The economy is awful and gas is almost $5 a gallon! Sure, we have peace, but at what price?

There is going to a be a serious backlash against the Dems, mark my words.

WTF are you smoking? sure Iraq is a hellhole but that was unavoidable . but alt fuels are making oil antique

Huck will edge it out, the flip-flopping charges that almost derailed Kerry last time will stick this time. How is he going to explain his off-and-on withdrawal from Iraq that made it such a bloody mess? Huckabee can contrast Kerry's bumbling, unsure style with is assuredness and ability to connect with people. Plus, he has populist appeal to counter the bad state the economy is in right now. (OOC: I believe the economic downturn would have happened no matter who was president, and the incumbent would get blamed)

but Huckabee is too extreme. I would be certain that the republicans would win if they ran anybody else, but with huckabee, they will lose. I don't know how that guy got the nomination, sure the list of republicans running was kinda bad (cheney, Ron paul, Romney, that brief bit where Dubya considered running, Condi rice) but huckabee was the worst pick of the bunch.

Huckabee doesn't have a prayer. He's only up one point in the polls after his nomination bounce? The long primary battles with Giuliani have taken their toll on moderate support. He is going to lose by about 100 electoral votes come November, unless Kerry REALLY does something stupid.
