DBWI: Polanski Lives

It's probably the most well-known murder in Hollywood after the Black Dahlia so I'll spare the long introduction. Charles Manson's "family" breaks into the Polanski residence and kills Sharon Tate and Roman Polanski among others. In a bitter twist, some accounts claim Polanski wasn't expecting to be home at the time but decided to return from working publicity for Rosemary's Baby and attend to his very pregnant wife. Of course, everyone remembers Rosemary's Baby as a great film today, Roman Polanski's unexpected swansong, but as with any great artist one has to wonder what he could've produced had he lived.

This is going to seem macarbe, but -- does his wife live too? If so, that's another change in its own right; if not, it's got a good chance of changing his work, possibly in such a way as to make it impossible for OTL to imagine...

Take your pick, though I will say I can't imagine Polanski having any will to live much less work if he had to see his wife and unborn child murdered before his eyes.
