DBWI: Peter I of Russia not overthrown?

Peter I of Russia was a young who tried to implement various reforms at the start of his reign, which caused wide spread rebellion in his realm. After he was ousted in 1685 the Tsardom of Russia collapsed into smaller states and The "Boyar period" began. How would the world differ today if Peter had suceded and Russia had remain united through the XVIII and XIX centuries?

OOC: I'm sorry if I come across the no fun allowed man of this forum for certain areas of history when it comes to plausibility, I don't see a boyar period or a break of Russia ever happening. First, the Boyars to my knowledge ceased to be a major influential power after Ivan the Terrible killed those boyars who he did not trust while keeping the Oprichnina system as an administration loyal to him. Second Russia wouldn't split back into principalities as it basically united under one, that being Muscovy, and the Rurikid male line by that time was extinct so it's not like there be any recent precedent for separatism. There's also the fact that if Russia did separate they be vulnerable to invasions westward if either the PLC or Sweden decided to invade, the Time of Troubles which exactly that was pretty brutal that I don't regardless of grievances with the Tsar no one is going to secede over this.

Personally, I'm glad he was overthrown, taking away beards and "westernizing" what a load of assimilationist bupkiss.

OOC: What are the possibilities then for severely weakening the power of the Tsar vis a vis the nobles, a Russian "Golden Freedom" if you will, as well as greatly curbing Russian power abroad? I should brush up more on Russian history so I appreciate the advice you give. Can we at least get some Cossack states and some territory lose to the Poles and Turks?

OOC: 1725 is the year Peter the Great died IOTL. It's the POD is him being overthrown, you'd need for it to be earlier to make much difference. By 1725, his reforms had been pretty firmly established.

OOC: Maybe a bad turn out on the part of the Russians during the Great Northern War would be a good POD for his deposition. It lasted from 1700 until 1721 so that is prior to his death in 1725 and has some possibilities.

OOC: I hate to pour cold water on another one of these, but as pointed out earlier the year that Peter the Great died OTL is hardly a good POD for him being overthrown! He was more vulnerable at the beginning of his reign, but if he had been overthrown then no one would have heard of him.

You are absolutely right, I decided to change the OP if that makes it better.
