DBWI: Packers don't trade Rodgers to Oakland

Back in 2007, Green Bay Packers management sent backup quarterback Aaron Rodgers to the Oakland Raiders in exchange for Randy Moss. Green Bay wanted to "win now" and sought Moss to be an additional target for Favre. The Raiders, with a quarterback in tow, drafted Calvin Johnson and beat out the Chargers for the AFC West and a 3-seed in the AFC playoffs.

The Packers had a few good years since the trade but, since Favre retired, they haven't been contenders while the Raiders have. However, it took a bit of convincing for the Raiders to make this move since Al David wanted JaMarcus Russell.

What if the move doesn't get made?

OOC: So you did read the news in FB.

Wonder where Moss would have landed..... Patriots or Cowboys? in either team he would massively helped it(maybe improved new england record to 15-1 or even a 16-0? the packers were close to undefeated season but that trap game against the bears ruined it...) and Cowboys might have helped tony romo to break the TD record.

Would Favre still have win Super Bowl XLII against the patriots without moss?(he give him 3 touchdown put the game out of bellichick and brady reach), would have moss retired early without favre?

I know that Pats team was incredible, but I don't know if they would have gone for 16-0; most teams don't after they clinch. That race with the Colts pushed them to 14-2 and two big wins in the playoffs. But the Pack was always a step ahead of them; the Pats scored 37 and it wasn't enough. What a game that was.

Long-term, it really did a number on the AFC, with Rodgers, Roethlisberger, Brady and Manning fighting it out. For the last 10 years, it hasn't been fun being any other team in the AFC except for those years the Ravens and Broncos hung in there.

Of course, on the flip side, look at the NFC North. The Pack got their title with Favre in 2007 but haven't done anything since, and the Lions are the best team in that division and can't figure it out in the playoffs.

OOC: Yes I did. Assuming it isn't fake news like the millionth "Colin Kaepernick signs with the London Silly Nannies!" article.

OOC: that was real at the time, were other factors on the deal but seems moss=rodgers was the big thing.

Well that trade change NFL fortunes all around, Raiders got both their franchise QB and WR, Lions got their own barry sanders 2.0(AP), Browns got another Fiasco(seriously Jamarcus Rusell show how to hype things..that 0-16 season in 08 is still brown nightmare..at least they got Matthew Stafford from that), would have the raiders have won Superbowl XLV(Against Packers of all teams) without those two(or either one, they still would have drafted megatron), raiders fell they dodge a bullet with J.Rusell...A-Rod and Megatron and that superbowl i think is the only reason now why they're getting a new stadium in Oakland....
