As ever, the myth of Mosley is being constantly invoked by politicians and in the media. Recently he won the poll for Best Briton, topping Darwin, Wellington, Nelson and Queen Victoria. The recent controversy over the National Front using his picture in their local elections campaign, however, has raised the figure of a more imperfect Mosley with many views that we wouldn't consider PC. Many revisionist historians question his much vaulted economic reforms and his handling of WWII. But, most British people regard the Mosley years with nostalgia, as a time of unity and purpose we have lost today.
