DBWI: Operation Husky succeeds

I think it's called Husky, I don't like remembering failed operations....like that one against Japan in 1944 what were the Yanks thinking? Invading Kyushu like that but I digress, would D-day had been as hard if Italy had surrendered after Husky?
OOC: Assume that the outcome is the same for WWII just a lot tougher

What are you talking about? D-Day was actually made easier. The collapse of the Italian government when they thought they were about to be invaded tied a good quarter of the German Army down until the war ended. Hitler never got over the idea that the Allies would invade through there and so never withdrew the troops that he had to station there to prop up Mussolini. It's too bad it also allowed Hitler and most of the Nazis to get away through Italy at the last minute, but we caught him in 1961. (Who'd have thought he'd end up in the US)
